A Landmark Niagara – Crowne Plaza Hotel Part 3
The arrival of a 20th Century-Fox film crew at Niagara Falls to take on Instead, the film Niagara. Officials from both sides of the border have been invited to watch the pageant on screens installed in the blue room of the hotel. England's Princess Elizabeth, soon to become Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh visit the Brock Plaza in 1951. In 1952, the Brock Plaza has also seen the installation of commercial television, first in a Canadian hotel. In 1958, England's Princess Margaret, after his sister, traces of Queen Elizabeth II becomes another in a long list of royalty to visit the Brock Plaza.
The Brock Plaza is undergoing an expansion of $ 500,000 in 1959, including the addition of the Crystal Ballroom with chandeliers ornate wall paintings, oriental rugs. The king and queen of Nepal dinner in the Rainbow Room restaurant overlooking the falls in 1960. They are joined by the Director General Brock Plaza, Albert A. Bonnet. The Brock Plaza Hotel welcomes its sister hotel in 1966, the Sheraton Foxhead Inn, which is built next door. The 14-storey hotel was completely renovated and enlarged in 2000, becoming the largest resort in Niagara – Hotel Sheraton on the Falls. In 1967 Construction began on the Sheraton Motor Inn, later renovated and renamed The Skyline Inn, just behind the Brock Plaza. Owners the Brock Plaza Building a Maple Leaf Village Amusement Park Mall and next to the hotel in 1976, the original site of the Oneida Silver Company.
The popular tourist destination includes an observation tower falls, large Ferris wheels and unique shops and shopping. In 1981 Niagara spectacular landscape lights Winter for the first time. The Winter Festival of Lights, which will become an annual tradition lights, celebrates its first year. The Hard Rock Cafe – with a collection Outstanding Rock Memorabilia – opens next to the Plaza Brock on Falls Avenue. He became Niagara hot spot for dining and observation of the celebrity. Diners enjoy multimillion-dollar memorabilia from the collections of Elton John, George Harrison and Elvis Presley.
